“Hey, Mommy! Can you show me how to do a cartwheel?”
Crap. I knew this was coming. My daughter cheers on a squad and their competition cheer has everyone doing cartwheels during part of the routine…but she doesn’t know how to do one.
I took a look at her pleading eyes and did what any 2013 mom would do. …we looked it up on Youtube. LOL. Don’t get me wrong. I’m an active person. I play sports and try to exercise regularly, but I’m 5’10”. I’ve always been tall, so flips and twirls were never my forte. Forward rolls are about my realm of expertise (I think there’s a reason why most female Olympic gymnasts are only five feet tall—I’m just saying).
We finished watching the tutorial and got some good tips.
“Okay, great! Now let’s go out in the yard and practice!” she exclaimed.
Once outside, I could see that she was nervous about trying it.
“Can you do one first, Mommy?”
“I have to admit, sweetie, I’m not very good at cartwheels.”
“That’s okay. “
Sigh. But, I did one. Five or six, to be exact. By the end of it, she improved a lot and I think she should be in good shape with continued practice.
I took four Tylenols and soaked in the tub.
